New Barn for the Lops!
I am excited to share that the new Lawton's Lops barn has arrived! The new barn will hold 64 cages and allow our rabbits to stay chilly and comfortable throughout the Texas summers. For the past 6 years, we have used misting systems, large fans, and frozen 2L bottles to keep the bunnies cool during the summer months. The new barn will be temperature controlled with a Bluetooth temperature monitor that links directly to my cell phone, insulation, replaceable plastic sheeting on the walls, and linoleum floors for easy cleaning.
Placed in our previous chicken pen, the chickens will now be relocated to the north/northwest side of the barn and will enjoy a large new shady spot. The coop will also be painted to match the new barn and give it an overall cohesive feel.
On the side, a large custom sign bearing the Lawton's Lops logo will be featured, flanked by trellises of vining flowers. Possibly sweet peas from our main garden space which is currently growing with the aide of our bunnies' generous donation of poop (the world's best cold compost!). Across from the sign along the wooden fence, we will be expanding our flower garden to allow for seasonal bouquets to be cut for decorating our home and as gifts for friends. We look forward to sharing additional photos and updates as this new adventure continues! We are hoping to move the herd into their new home within the next two weeks once the interior modifications are completed and their current cages are modified and thoroughly cleaned.
