Texas Freeze Update & Babies in the Barn
I am excited (and relieved) to announce that we made it through the Texas freeze with no losses! Our mamas kept their litters nice and toasty in their nests and even pulled a little extra fur just before the weather got bad. I always get so nervous right before a big temperature drop when we have babies in the barn, but rabbits are naturally such good mothers it didn't take much assistance on my end to help them prepare.
Even more exciting is that I woke up to 5 new litters today! Most of the bunnies were born to first time mothers, so I won't check sexes and colors just yet. I did a little hand-in-the-nest check to make sure everyone was warm and there were no stillborn kits, but everyone seemed healthy and plump with full bellies! I'll post pics of the litters later this week.
Lastly, we have some sweet bunnies that will be available to reserve soon! Most will be looking for pet homes, but we do have some that will be be pedigreed and ready for a breeding program of their own. We will also be rehoming a few of our proven breeding stock from our Mini Lop and Holland Lop herds so keep an eye out for those to post as well!
